How do we approach empowerment of the patient and the health ecosystem?
We are confident that the home and living environment will take a more and more prominent position in the patient journey. The home is (mostly) comfortable but there is hardly any personal and convenient equipment around to help protect the patient. We provide the linking pin technology between the in-hospital and at-home situation by:
Removing many obstacles and discomfort for the home patient by introducing very compact, interactive and comfortably wearable monitoring subsystems
Providing more keys for self-control, more life style support and more independence for the home patient
Thanks to attractively low-cost and reimbursable solutions, it is accessible to a large group of patients, from mild (large more preventive population) to heavily diagnosed patients (smaller more acute populations).
Due to our distinct and inherently comfortable solution we generate more consistent and higher quality clinical measurement data.
Enabling cost-savings by integrating functions in one solution and connection to AI health diagnosis functions that ultimately will lead to reduced care worker load.
Our Expertise, our Solution
We started our solution journey with miniature body-worn sensor experts in various applications and collaborations, including those in elite sports. The current and converged expertise is focused on the healthcare sector, with a team composed of medical engineers, system engineering, embedded software engineering and connected data. Furthermore, collaborations with design agencies, universities, healthcare institutions and other medical companies have been initiated and have generated an expanding ecosystem around FreeSense Solutions.
Thanks to this team and ecosystem, we have developed the 3rd generation of our CareBuddy solution. CareBuddy consists of an around-the-ear wearable that measures and processes vital signs, enables audio functions and has wireless connectivity through a companion LTE wrist wearable. As of this specific combination of functions, this wearables category is termed “bio-hearable”. Our CareBuddy bio-hearable can measure heart rate, SpO2, respiration rate, blood pressure, body temperature, apnea, activity level, body posture and many more vital and life style parameters in the longer run. Furthermore, it can enable direct and fully secured speech with caretakers and health bots without the use of a smartphone. Unlike many other health-wearables, it does not use reflective sensors that scan blood volume at the skin surface but rather the much more robust and accurate transmissive sensing similar to what is used in hospitals using a (wired) finger- or ear clip.
Mission & Vision
At FreeSense, we are driven by our mission to make accurate and robust home monitoring available and accessible to everyone in need of care and to prevent acute reactionary care. This contributes to the well-being of the patient, reduces workload of the care workers, overall lowers the hospitalisation cost and improves the overall clinical outcome. Our vision is to achieve this by deployment of a new and highly interactive monitoring device called CareBuddy. It is part of an integral system that bridges the gap between caregiving in-hospital and at-home. With a dedicated team, we provide an innovative solution that improves the well-being of primarily chronic patients, in the safety and comfort of their own homes. Even though the system is applicable to many diagnoses, we have initially chosen for the treatment of chronic cardiac (home)patients as part new, hybrid care pathways.
